Alarming new data shows staffing crisis is getting even worse

The staffing crisis is getting worse, according to a new survey from The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). 
The survey represented more than 14,000 nursing homes and long term care facilities across the country. 
It found that 86 percent of nursing homes and 77 percent of assisted living providers said their workforce situation has gotten worse over the last three months. 
To add to the crisis – 99 percent of nursing homes and 96 percent of assisted living communities in the United States reported facing a staffing shortage. 
To make up for the shortages, nursing homes and assisted living communities are asking staff to work overtime or extra shifts, and 58 percent of nursing homes are limiting new admission due to staffing shortages.
