Are you the type of person who waits in line at midnight to see the first showing of the summer’s hottest blockbuster hit (or would, if movie theatres were still open)? Or were you one of the first people who clicked “PURCHASE” when the iPhone 11 first launched? Or do you simply love the hot, new, innovative thing and must have it IMMEDIATELY RIGHT NOW?
Well, according to the Pew Research Center, 28 percent of you out there feel that way. You, you crazy kids, are what’s known as “early adopters”: Those who enjoy – nay, LOVE – trying out new technology and new products before the hoi polloi. On the other hand, 52 percent of people prefer to stick with their tried and true products, while 39 percent of folks prefer to wait until they hear about others’ experiences before trying something new themselves.
Makes, sense, right? After all, if you’re going to drop a huge chunk of change on a hot new smartphone, many of us want to make sure it’s worth it. That it’s reliable. Useful. In other words, a sure thing. A safe bet.
Well, guess what? That’s how a lot of businesses (and business decisions) roll, too. Because adopting a new way of doing things is risky. Scary. Much better to sit back and watch others try (and fail – or succeed) and learn from their findings. It may mean that you don’t get quite as much success as others, but hey, it’s guaranteed success – right
*insert buzzer sound here* Yeah, not quite. You’ve heard the phrase “the early bird gets the worm? Turns out it’s a pretty apt phrase for those who jump in and whole-heartedly embrace the “new.” Sure, there’s the possibility that you’ll make a mistake or two, but there’s also lots of possibility for success.
Tim and Tom (the two great guys who founded SeniorVu) talk a lot about early adopters in relation to the senior living industry and what we do here. As they say, SeniorVu’s technology – our super-duper-awesome and proprietary lead generation and nurturing platform – works well for everyone, but it works really well for those in senior living who would be considered “early adopters.” Don’t believe us? Just take a look at these very real benefits of being able to say “I did it first”:
You get bragging rights. Admit it. We all like to brag every once in a while. It’s only human! Being a trailblazer by using a new piece of technology is pretty cool – but it also means you show the world that you’re an innovator and open to new ways of thinking/doing/seeing/etc. And that’s not just bragging – that’s smart business.
You get to be part of the conversation. By being an early adopter, you can play a part in helping products work better, smarter and faster. In other words, you become a crucial partner, helping test drive the technology and having a say in shaping how it works. That also means you have a chance to make the technology work exactly the way that is right for you. How cool is that?
You gain an edge over your competitors. Business is business, which means that, ultimately, you want to do just as well, if not better, than your competition. According to a study by Harvard Business Review, early adopters gain something called “first mover advantages” over their competitors. That means more business for you…as well as your prospects and leads seeing you as “movers and shakers.” And we can tell you, that feels pretty good.
While the cool, new, hot thing may not be for everyone – and we really mean it when we say that’s okay – we want to help you stand out from the crowd and show your leads and prospects that you’re forward-thinkers when it comes to all things senior living related. With our state-of-the-art CRM, amazing service and pretty cool people, we’d love to be your partner in showing the world that you’re a trailblazing, early adopter.
