It is impossible to properly express the outrage, the anguish, and the sadness that is felt in our hearts and throughout our country. While silence is a choice, it’s not an acceptable one. Now more than ever, we must dial-up empathy and action.
SeniorVu stands in solidarity with our Black colleagues, client partners, caregivers, friends, and greater society to affirm – loudly and unequivocally – that Black lives matter. We are horrified by the murder of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis, and the unjust deaths and treatment of far too many others because of the color of their skin. The murder of Ahmaud Arbery by two civilians in Brunswick, Georgia; the murder of Breonna Taylor by police officers in Louisville, Kentucky; and the racially charged harassment of Christian Cooper by an individual in Central Park in Manhattan are at the forefront of public consciousness. They are reminders of the deeply rooted systemic inequality and bias that marginalized groups face every day.
As a company and as individuals, we must listen. We must learn. We must make change together. This is an opportunity for us to renew our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). SeniorVu will turn our grief, pain and anger into action by creating a plan to support efforts for change in our local community, use our voice to start a dialogue in the senior living industry, and provide educational opportunities for our team members on equity and allyship.
On our SeniorVu office wall is our mantra: Work to Live and Live to Serve for the Greater Good. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are all for the Greater Good, but we realize that a wall with words is not enough. We must speak out and show up. Black Lives Matter.
