Episode 37 – COVID-19 Vaccine Mythbusters

With all the vaccine information swirling around on social media and not completely clear on the official websites, we invited Ann Cheverton on the podcast to help us separate fact from fiction.  Ann is Senior Vice President of Resident Services for Bickford Senior Living and wants nothing more than for everyone to get the vaccine so we can get life back to some sense of normalcy.

Before Covid-19 arrived in the U.S. last year, this British born Bickford executive had one mission: to keep coronavirus out of the 63 Bickford branches. A year later, after reading the latest information about the virus every day, her goal was to see to it that every resident and every staff member who want the vaccine can get it.  Through it all, Ann has heard just about every question one can possibly imagine about the virus and the vaccine.  In this podcast we start with one of the oddest questions I’ve ever heard: Is there a tracking device inside the vaccine so when it is injected the government will be able to track my every move?

From there we talk about common questions regarding the vaccine:

Can I take the vaccine if I’m pregnancy?

Will the vaccine cause infertility?

Can the vaccine alter my DNA?

Will the vaccine work with the variants of the virus?

If someone contracted the virus already do they really need to get the vaccine?

Ann also provides information about how the vaccine was produced so quickly but can still be trusted, and if this vaccine can be produced with such speed and efficacy why can’t there be more vaccines doing the same thing for other disease?

We discussed how and when life would return to some sense of normalcy and what might be on the horizon for families with loved ones in senior living communities like Bickford.  Then, we learn a little more about this Brit on a more personal level when Ann shares with us the one senior she would love to have high tea with if she could!

Join us for this thoughtful conversation chock full of answers to your Covid-19 vaccine questions.
